A serious topic that affects all sports. No matter which discipline, there are ethical issues as well as the longer term effects that any drug taken has on individual sportspeople.

There is no cure-all solution to the epidemic which arises every few years, especially around Olympic Games, FIFA tournaments. Sporting bodies have treated performance enhancing drugs differently to recreational drugs, from peptides to cafein to medically prescribed drugs to relaxants/sedative concoctions.

In football, where the dangers lie sometimes is the younger generation seek a competitive edge over rivals & seriously consider a cocktail of legal drugs. Combined with recreational drugs this has, in our part of the world led to loss of life.

Does FIFA augment the testing for professional/semi-professional footballers &/or how often should these tests be conducted? Or does FIFA just leave it up to the clubs concerned for these tests?

    What are your thoughts?
