Sporting Kansas City had a chance for the top seed in the West but really messed up in the final matches of the regular season. Vancouver had a great second half in the season and managed to grab a playoff ticket. 

Sporting Kansas City were at one point leading the Western Conference and they actually had a genuine shot at sitting at the top. However, they lost 4 of their last 6 matches (and each of their last 3), to eventually finish at the 3rd spot with 58 points (17 wins, 10 losses, 7 draws), scoring 58 goals and conceding 40 in the process.

They won 4 of their last 6 home matches in the regular season, scoring 2+ goals in all 4 wins. 9 of their 17 home matches had Over 2.5 goals, with an average of 2.9 goals per match.

The Vancouver Whitecaps had a terrific second half of the season, losing just 2 of their last 21 matches (10 wins, 2 losses, 9 draws), and remaining unbeaten in their last 6 (3 wins, 3 draws). However, Both Teams scored in each of their last 7 matches.

Even so, a 1-1 draw at home against the Sounders in the last match gave them the 6th spot of the Conference with 49 points (12 wins, 9 losses, 13 draws). Vancouver had the 4th most matches with Over 2.5 Goals in the Conference, as 20 of their 34 matches went over the total.

Things were not very good on the road, where Vancouver had the 2nd fewest wins, but also the most draws and the 2nd fewest losses (2 wins, 5 losses, 10 draws). 10 of their 17 away matches had Over 2.5 Goals, with an average of 2.8 goals per match.
