ESPANYOL VS ATHLETIC BILBAO Prediction and Match Review

PREDICTIONS, BETTING TIPS AND MATCH PREVIEWS

DATE:14.01.2018

LEAGUE:SPAIN LA LIGA

  1.  MATCH: ESPANYOL VS ATHLETIC BILBAO

PICK:Both Teams To Score ODD:1.85 FT??

This game sees two sides that made very slow starts to the season but seem to be recovering, meet. Athletic endured a difficult Autumn and José Ángel Ziganda was under real pressure when they lost at home to minnows Formentera in the Copa del Rey. However he seems to have riden the storm and Athletic might just benefit from a quieter schedule this month, given they have a relatively small squad and a European campaign still to come.Espanyol aren’t in Europe but they do have a Catalan derby to look forward to in the Copa del Rey starting next week. They staged an excellent comeback in the last round, winning 2-0 at Levante in midweek to oversee a 1st Leg deficit and their league form is much improved now too, with solid 1-0 wins over Atletico Madrid and Malaga heading into this. However behind the scenes a storm has been brewing that could yet throw their season into disarray at this pivotal stage in the campaign. Stoke have made Espanyol boss Quique Sánchez Flores their number one target and he could even be appointed before this game takes place which would leave the Catalans in caretaker charge for this one. Sanchez Flores is said to be unhappy at the Espanyol board failing to keep promises they made to him when he took the job and it looks likely he will welcome a new challenge in the Potteries. Overall it’s hard to see many goals here. Both teams are defending well and both teams have scored in just 33% of Espanyol games and only 39% of Athletic games this term. Therefore going for Both Teams to Score – NO appeals in this one.
